Door mats have always had a sentimental value to many people. They also hold childhood memories for many. It is not rare to find many home havving door mats that have writting on them like, welcome home or east west home is best and the like. They have phrases and catch words that are memorable and make home coming an exciting experience. This is on top of their regular use which is to filter any dirt that is coming into the house. In many parts of the world, door mats are used to filter dirt and dust that from shoes especially if it is dusty territory.
As we have mentioned, the primary use of mats on the door is cleanliness. This is what comes to mind when we talk about the good old- fashioned doormat. A well functioning door mat filters out about half of the dirt that attempts to make its way into the home. They act as a natural natural way to ensure that the home is clean. Dust in the house is one of the primary reasons for breathing problems and other respiratory complications such as soar throats, coughs, mouth soars, and the like. There is off course the option to purchase an air cleaner or humidifier but many people are in agreement that prevention is better than cures. Imagine combining a good mat at the door with a good humidifier or air purifier. This can certainly do a great job at eliminating over $50% of all dust particles floating in the air and which contribute to flu-like symptoms all the time especially for people that have a low immune system or people that are elderly.
If you use a good mat at the door, you will eliminate the need to invest in expensive cleaners and detergents to ensure that dirt and bacteria do not invade your home. You will also end up using less time cleaning and vacuuming the house because the dirt is left, you guessed it, OUTSIDE!
When choosing a good door mat to buy, remember that the location where you live should dictate the texture. Mats come in many shapes colors and styles and there is no way to really say which one is the best. This is all up to your personal preference. But if you live in a dusty territory, as in a ranch or a farm, then you have to contend with things like mud when it rains and a good mat will have to be able to take that into consideration as well
In many homes, mats at the door add to the home's elegance. As we have mentioned there are now many shapes, sizes and colors and one can choose a mat that compliments and accentuates the style of the home. Colors are also important. There are colors that are warm and welcoming and these should be chosen for large homes. Some people also change their mats depending on the season of the year. For Christmas, people will tend to put colors that seem to agree with the season such as green and red and can even have a picture of reindeer and or Santa Claus.
